CNPE’s whole reason for existing is to help its members, most of whom are nonprofits in Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana. Our annual membership fees range from $85 for nonprofits with an annual budget under $50,000 to $750 for nonprofits with an annual budget over $5 million. Click on the “JOIN NOW” or “RENEW NOW” buttons below for fee details. In addition to helping to bring members of the nonprofit sector together to share best practices and network with each other, our nonprofit members get:
Members get unlimited free job postings on our website (one of our most-viewed web pages). You will find the link to post on your member dashboard after you log in. (We charge nonmembers $100 per posting for this valuable service, so your membership could pay for itself with just a couple of postings.)
Once your organization joins CNPE, you can also register all your current staff and directors as members. (The "administrator" of your account, who submitted or renewed your organizational membership, can easily add or remove directors and staff.) They can all quality for professional development discounts.
Members get access to free/discounted workshops, classes, and events. They also qualify for special discounts on MindEdge Learning self-paced, on-demand courses.
Members get listed in our Membership Directory so you can be found by foundations, donors, researchers, journalists, and other nonprofit organizations.
Members get 90 minutes of free consulting annually, plus a 25% discount on our high-quality consulting services.
Members get access to current, geography-specific GuideStar compensation data for top nonprofit positions (CEO, CFO, COO). This data gives you confidence that your compensation levels can attract and retain the right talent. You can send a request here. (Note: We may need up to five business days to pull the data you need.)
Members get free access to BoardMatch so you can find your next board or committee member among people actively interested in serving.
CNPE has partnered with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Altman Insurance (an insurance broker) to make sure our members have access to affordable health care coverage at group rates – whether they have only a handful of employees or dozens of them.
Possible savings: Depending on your organization’s current insurance profile and the number of employees you intend to insure, you can realize savings of 3% to 26% by taking advantage of our alliance with Anthem and Altman.
25 plans to choose from: Anthem offers CNPE members 22 Preferred Provider Plans and 3 High-Deductible Health Plans with varying copayments, deductibles, coinsurance percentages, and out-of-pocket maximums. Learn more about Anthem's coverage.
To participate, your organization must:
1. be a nonprofit organization;
2. be (and remain) a CNPE member;
3. have at least two full-time employees (working at least 30 hours/week), even if only one employee needs coverage; and
4. be headquartered in one of seven Kentucky counties: Bullitt, Hardin, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, or Trimble.
How to participate
1. See our Nonprofit/Foundations Directory to confirm whether your organization is already a CNPE member. If you are not a member, join today.
2. Review the available plans. You may want to contact Mallory Ogburn, the Altman Insurance account representative for this plan, to clarify the differences among plans.
3. Download and complete:
• Anthem Employee Application (complete one for each employee you want to cover)
Note that you can complete these forms on your screen, then save the completed forms for sending by email or printing to send by fax (if you are concerned about exposing Social Security numbers).
4. Email your completed forms to Mallory Ogburn at Altman Insurance.
CNPE has partnered with First Nonprofit (FNP) to provide CNPE members that are 501(c)(3) entities with access to unemployment insurance, with a 20% discount on the initial one-time enrollment fee (a savings of $1,125). Qualified nonprofits can self-insure against unemployment claims rather than paying into their state’s unemployment insurance pool as long as they have at least four FTEs (full-time-equivalent employees). FNP programs minimize the risk associated with being a self-insured employer, provide a fixed annual cost, and remove the uncertainty of your unemployment claim exposure. This three-minute video explains how FNP can help you optimize your unemployment insurance costs.
Depending on the organization’s experience with unemployment claims, self-insurance can result in savings of 35% or more. See this one-page flyer for details. FNP also provides HR services to help you with recruiting, onboarding, developing, retaining, and separating from employees. In addition, FNP clients get free access to certified HR advisors to help with workplace compliance issues, employee handbooks, and benefits documents.
Program enrollment opens in November – but you can get a free, no-obligation estimate in advance. (If you choose to replace your state unemployment insurance, you must opt out by November 30. So submiy your paperwork early in November.)
The FNP program is available in both Kentucky and Indiana. Apply for coverage by completing this simple two-page online application and sending it to the email address at the bottom of the form.
CNPE member employees can join Wel at Humana with no enrollment fee (a $50 value). To access the discount, CNPE members should email wel@humana.com with the access code “WELCNPE” and they will verify your membership and schedule a complimentary tour to get you started. Health and wellness are important to us all.
